We are seeking an analytical and detail-driven Buyer Planner I to join our Distribution Purchasing team. If you enjoy balancing data, vendor relationships, and operational coordination and want your work to directly impact patient care this is the role for you.
What You'll Do
As a Buyer Planner I, you'll manage purchasing and inventory planning for medical products that support member hospitals. You'll ensure the right product is in the right place at the right time while minimizing backorders and protecting cash flow.
Your responsibilities will include:
Manage planning and purchasing of stock and non-stock medical products
Generate and process purchase requisitions and purchase orders
Expedite, de-expedite, or adjust orders based on demand
Maintain accurate system data including lead times, pricing, and safety stock
Monitor inventory levels and warehouse stock performance
Analyze forecast vs. actual sales trends
Review daily usage and open PO reports
Identify and address slow-moving or inactive inventory
Work proactively to minimize backorders
Evaluate supplier performance (price, quality, reliability)
Develop alternative supply sources when needed
Partner with Receiving, Accounting, and Operations teams
Support new product launches and project rollouts
Participate in Lean and continuous improvement initiatives
Qualifications
Required
High school diploma or equivalent
25 years of purchasing or purchasing/planning experience
Strong Excel and reporting skills
Preferred
Associate degree or higher
CPIM or comparable supply chain certification
Experience working in inventory/purchasing systems (Elite preferred)
