Job Title
The Westerville Parks Maintenance Division is seeking one applicant to fill our summer seasonal position!
Description
This is a responsible, semi-skilled position performing watering duties for park maintenance. Seasonal Park Specialists work is performed outdoors in varying weather conditions. This position will have a varied schedule but is expected to be Tu - Sa 4:00 am - 11:30 am.
Supervision
Work is performed under the general direction of the Parks-Forestry Manager. Position may serve as crew leader and/or lead worker as directed by supervisory staff. Work is inspected and reviewed through written performance evaluations.
Essential Functions Of Work
Ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing with citizens, vendors, city and departmental staff is needed.
Ability to operate and maneuver a non-CDL truck with skid-mounted sprayer to perform daily watering duties.
Ability to problem solve, complete equipment inspections and provide basic maintenance.
Ability to learn pump operations, to regulate flow and pressure for varying circumstances.
Provides and fulfills staffing needs responding to absentee coverage.
Ability to work within all standard safety practices associated with the trade in order to maintain a safe working environment.
Performs other related duties as required.
Minimum Requirements Of Work
Ability to lift 50 pounds.
Ability to work in varying weather conditions.
Possession at the time of appointment of a high school diploma or equivalent is required.
Demonstrated, self-motivated and independent workers are preferred.
Possession of valid Ohio Driver's license is required.
Benefits
The City contributes 14% monthly toward retirement benefits offered through the Ohio Public Employee Retirement System. The employee pension payment share is 10% of gross salary. Personal Leave Eligible for 24 hours of personal leave if more than 500 hours worked in previous calendar year. Eligible for 40 hours of personal leave if more than 1000 worked in previous calendar year.
