
Law Enforcement Training Advisor.

Duties
Serving as a Law Enforcement Training Advisor, GS‑1801‑13, you will be a valuable member of the Federal Law Enforcement Training Centers (FLETC) team and mission. This position is located in the Office of the Associate Director for Training Operations (TOPS), Technical Training Operations (TTO) Directorate, Behavioral Science Division (BSD), Glynco, GA.
The primary purpose of this position is to provide divisional advice and guidance concerning training, training programs, training trends, methods, and processes.
Typical Duties Include
Assessing the law enforcement environment and participating organization threat responses affecting law enforcement training program operations, course development, content, context and delivery.
Assessing national and international changes in technologies used in crime and the deterrence of criminal and subversive activities, and reviewing training content for possible integration into courses and programs.
Providing expert advice on the Systems Approach to Training (SAT), and leading or assisting course development teams during the development and revision phase.
Reviewing program content with FLETC training divisions and participating organizations to ensure students are exposed to the full range of knowledge, skills, and abilities and that training experiences span cognitive, affective, and psychomotor domains of learning.
Working with other FLETC enterprise operations on the coordination of export training domestically and at international sites as needed.
Serving as the division expert and primary point of contact for the Training Management Operations Directorate program specialists engaged in processing requests for development, design and updating of training specific to agency needs.
Requirements
You must be a U.S. citizen.
Males born after 12/31/1959 must register for Selective Service.
You must successfully pass a background investigation.
Current and former federal employees must meet the time‑in‑grade requirements outlined in the qualifications section.
Position is a bargaining‑unit covered role under the National Treasury Employees Union (NTEU).
Must possess and maintain a valid state‑issued driver’s license to conduct official government business.
Must arrange direct deposit for payment.
Must obtain and maintain FLETC Law Enforcement Instructor certification within 12 months of employment.
Undergo pre‑appointment and random drug testing; employment contingent upon favorable results.
Must meet job‑related medical and fitness standards and be subject to initial and annual physical examinations.
Position is subject to the Lautenberg Amendment; convicted misdemeanors of domestic violence prohibit occupancy.
Responsible for ensuring continuity of operations with minimal disruption during emergencies.
Overtime and situational telework may be required.
Qualifications
To be considered for this position you must:
Possess experience as a sworn law‑enforcement officer or agent with full arrest authority in the prevention, detection, apprehension, detention, and/or investigation of felony and/or misdemeanor violations of federal, state, local, tribal or military criminal laws; OR
Have held a federal civilian position in the 1801 occupational series.
For GS‑13, you must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS‑12 level, including duties such as: analyzing training requirements, evaluating training, developing and tracking training budgets, and implementing long‑term training plans. Education may not substitute for this level of experience.
Time‑in‑Grade
Current GS employees and those who have served in GS positions within the last 52 weeks must have served 52 weeks at the next lower grade, or an equivalent combination, by the closing of this announcement.
