
Urgent Care Physician - Per Diem

Job Relationships
Responsible to: Medical Director, Associate Medical Director.
Assignments received from: Medical Director, Associate Medical Director.
Positions supervised: None.
Job Summary
Physicians independently perform a wide variety of clinical services including treatment of acute episodic conditions such as sore throats, colds, flu-like symptoms, cuts, sprains and minor infections and are also responsible for selecting and utilizing appropriate diagnostics and/or therapeutic procedures for patients.
Job Requirements
Education
Graduate of an accredited medical school required.
Work Experience
2-5 years of post-residency clinical experience required.
Minimum 18 months experience in applicable practice setting required.
Adult and pediatric practice experience strongly preferred.
Required Licenses/Certifications
Board Certified or Board Eligible by an ABMS member board or AOA specialty board in Family Medicine or Emergency Medicine.
Active state medical licensure.
Additional Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required
Experience in an Urgent Care or Emergency Medicine setting.
Applicable office procedures including but not limited to suturing, splinting, etc.
Additional Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Preferred
Knowledge and experience with Electronic Medical Records.
Ability to be attentive with strong listening skills.
Strong communication and customer service skills.
Essential Functions
Job Responsibilities include:
Examining and treating patients.
Taking patients’ medical histories.
Ordering and interpreting diagnostic tests and X-rays.
Making diagnoses and prescribing medications.
Treating minor injuries that may require sutures, splints, or casting.
Recording progress notes for follow-up patients.
Educating and counseling patients.
Ordering and/or carrying out therapy with patients.
Giving vaccinations, and referring patients to additional care.
Supervising GoHealth PA/NPs remotely when cases are presented to you for supervision.
Act as a Collaborating Physician for up to four PA/NPs in the credentialing process, including signoff of the PA/NPs delineation of privileges (DOP).
Each provider will work an anticipated eight (8) or twelve (12) hours per shift.
All other duties as assigned.
