Venture Center Adjunct Instructor (Non-Credit)

Adjunct instructors partner with students and the College to ensure success, model FVTC core values, and demonstrate commitment to excellence in program and course content and delivery. Adjunct instructors may work in a collaborative environment, embrace innovation to meet evolving program and industry needs, and demonstrate competency with technology that supports learning and teaching. Assignments are based on the instructor’s qualifications and availability.
Job Description

Essential Job Functions
The duties outline general expectations of adjunct faculty. Specific teaching assignments will be developed at hiring based on departmental needs.
Plan, develop, and implement instructional strategies, including alternative delivery methods when appropriate.
Assist and advise students with assignments, tests, grades, content, career concerns, and other academic matters.
Research, develop, and administer skills assessments before, during, and after courses to evaluate student performance.
Promote student success through timely communication, growth-based feedback, and strategies for diverse learners.
Comply with college policies on testing records, grading, and maintaining office hours for student assistance and counseling.
Maintain professional currency and contribute to a collaborative culture across the College.
Attend division, department, and advisory committee meetings as requested.
Participate in staff development activities such as diversity awareness and technology training.
Demonstrate commitment to the college's mission, vision, and values.
Qualifications, Training, and Experience

Bachelor’s degree in a related field (an Associate Degree or equivalent may be considered based on experience and expertise).
Minimum of two years of occupational experience in a target job for the program(s) being taught, with at least one year within five years prior to hire. One year of recent related occupational experience may be waived if the instructor has at least two years of post-secondary teaching experience in the field within five years prior to hire. Four years of occupational experience preferred.
Prior teaching or training experience preferred.
Qualified per FVTC requirements at time of and throughout employment. Must meet and maintain Higher Learning Commission (HLC) requirements, Faculty Quality Assurance Standards (FQAS), and/or other job-specific licensing standards.
In evaluating candidates, the College may consider a combination of education, training, and experience to provide the necessary knowledge, skills, and abilities for the position.
Essential Aptitudes, Skills, Knowledge, and Personal Characteristics

The following outlines general expectations for Adjunct Faculty; program-specific content requirements will be developed at hiring based on departmental needs.
Knowledge of current educational methods and strategies, including learner-centered instruction, assessment, evaluation, and collaborative techniques that address gaps in student access and achievement across race, gender, and disability.
Skilled in the use of educational technology and alternative delivery methods.
Ability to infuse multicultural perspectives into course content and delivery.
Strong communications and interpersonal skills with diverse populations, including socio-economic and racial backgrounds and individuals with disabilities.
Strong oral and written communication skills.
Ability to effectively interact with business and industry to establish partnerships and address needs.
Additional Information

Hourly pay rate: $45.00 per hour. Pay is based on factors including experience, qualifications, education, certifications, internal equity, and market data.
Adjunct instructors are hired on a per-course basis. Total hours range from approximately 3 to 8 hours per week; hours vary and may include day, evening, and weekend classes. Courses are taught in traditional classrooms and alternative formats.
Upon hire, mandatory Blackboard Basics & Orientation for Adjunct Instructors must be completed within 30 days. Additional training is required to teach in the Wisconsin Technical College System within the first three years of hire.
