Overview

Department: College of Medicine, Medicine Biomedical Sciences. The Ruberto Lab at Florida State University invites applications for a full-time Postdoctoral Research Associate to contribute to research on drug discovery and drug resistance in unicellular eukaryotic parasites. The candidate’s primary project will involve cellular and molecular profiling of malaria-causing Plasmodium falciparum parasites with varying tolerance to clinical and experimental antimalarials.
Responsibilities

Perform scientific experiments under the direction of the principal investigator related to cellular and molecular profiling of Plasmodium falciparum parasites with varying tolerance to clinical and experimental antimalarials.
Design and implement experiments, manage day-to-day lab activities, and perform related tasks as assigned.
Ensure implementation of safety procedures and instruct lab members in laboratory procedures and operation of equipment.
Maintain current knowledge of research techniques through library literature and attendance at campus seminars.
Present research findings through lab presentations and seminars.
Write manuscripts and assist the PI in reviewing and writing grants. Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications

A PhD conferred within the last five years in a relevant field is required.
Preferred Qualifications

Experience in cellular and molecular parasitology, omics technologies, bioinformatics, and/or drug discovery is preferred.
