Overview
The Oregon Department of Corrections is seeking a strong and experienced leader to serve as the Food Service Manager at Columbia River Correctional Institution (CRCI), Portland, Oregon.
Responsibilities
Direct and manage the food services program to ensure high-quality, efficient service while operating within established budgetary constraints.
Provide direct supervision over all assigned food service staff, including assigning work, monitoring performance, and supporting training and development.
Oversee day-to-day food service operations, ensure compliance with applicable food safety, sanitation, and agency requirements, and coordinate staffing and workflow to meet operational needs.
Authorize and monitor all program-related purchases, manage inventory and expenditures, and ensure resources are used effectively to support consistent and reliable food service delivery while aligning with operational and fiscal goals.
Note: This position is management services and may be eligible for Police & Fire (P&F) benefits through Public Employees Retirement System (PERS), as defined by statute.
Minimum Qualifications
Five (5) years of lead work, supervision, or progressively related experience; OR
Two (2) years of related experience and a bachelor’s degree in a related field.
Required Skills
Experience managing food service operations in a large-scale or institutional setting.
Experience with budgeting, purchasing, and inventory control.
Knowledge of food safety, sanitation, and regulatory requirements.
Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills.

Expect a high-noise environment, extreme temperatures, and wet or slippery floors.
