
Manager in Training (Part-Time)

Summary
The Manager in Training assists the Store Manager with overall operations and administrative duties, ensuring smooth store functions. They are knowledgeable across all product areas, support inventory and sales goals, uphold company policies, and deliver outstanding customer service. In the Store Manager’s absence, the Manager in Training assumes supervisory control and continues to drive store performance.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Assist the Store Manager in controlling site assets.
Collaborate on action plans to meet departmental and overall store objectives such as selling, restocking, merchandising, ordering, and scheduling.
Assume responsibility for the entire store when the Store Manager is absent.
Provide guidance to employees and customers across all departments.
Monitor inventory levels, sales statistics, and expenses to ensure profitability.
Direct staff to meet departmental responsibilities and standards.
Communicate inventory movements and customer trends to the Store Manager.
Maintain quality customer service at all times.
Perform general administrative duties and develop understanding of Store Manager responsibilities.
Deliver extraordinary customer service as outlined in the customer service manual, including welcoming customers and managing peak periods.
Promote and sell Hibbett I City Gear services and merchandise.
Adhere to all Hibbett I City Gear policies, procedures, and standards from the operations, personnel, visual, and customer service manuals.
Protect company assets and financial information through accurate internal controls and reporting potential fraud risks to management.
Supervisory Responsibilities
Supplies leadership to employees in the Store Manager’s absence, following company policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, training, planning, assigning, directing work, and resolving problems.
Qualifications
Experience in retail, preferably footwear and athletic apparel.
1‑3 years of customer service experience.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
Ability to thrive in a fast‑paced environment.
Capability to assist in team management and sustain overall goals and profitability.
Self‑starter with initiative to tackle important tasks proactively.
Strong attention to detail and multitasking precision.
Team player, passionate about outstanding customer service and merchandise sales.
