Overview
Primary Purpose
Provide specialized guidance to support students with diverse learning, behavioral, and social-emotional needs by collaborating with campus and district staff to promote compliant, high-quality instructional practices, positive behavior supports, and data-informed decisions. The specialist assists in strengthening systems, building staff capacity, and supporting continuous improvement to enhance student outcomes in alignment with federal, state, and district requirements.
Qualifications
Education : Bachelor\'s degree in Education, Special Education, Psychology, Applied Behavior Analysis, or a related field
Certification : Special Education Certification Or Other Relevant Certification/licensure, Preferred
Licensure : CPI trainer, preferred
Special Knowledge / Skills
Experience teaching in a Special Education Specialized Program, collaborative problem solving, instructional practices for students with disabilities
Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
Knowledge of Federal and State requirements of IDEA, including IEP process, paperwork, and requirements
Mental Demands / Physical Demands / Environmental Factors
Tools / Equipment Used : Standard office equipment, including personal computer and peripherals
Posture : Prolonged sitting; occasional bending/stooping, pushing/pulling, and twisting
Motion : Repetitive hand motions including frequent keyboarding and use of mouse; occasional reaching
Lifting : Occasional light lifting and carrying (15-45 pounds)
Environment : May work prolonged or irregular hours; frequent districtwide travel; occasional statewide travel and out-of-state travel
Mental Demands : Work with frequent interruptions, maintain emotional control under stress
