Parkway Animal Hospital is seeking an exceptional person to add to our team as a full-time Veterinary Assistant. We have been caring for pets in Lenexa, KS, for over 30 years! We are passionate about animal care and their well-being and want someone who shares this passion to join us!

Basic care for animals in the clinic
Cleaning and maintenance of facility
Safe handling of animals
Administer medications orally and by injection
Prepare prescriptions and fill prescriptions for patients
Draw blood for diagnostics
Prepare slides for cytology
Prepare surgery packs and sterilize packs
Safely administer vaccinations to animals
Administer subcutaneous fluids to patients and monitor them while receiving fluids
Provide support, knowledge, and instruction in specialized areas to team members
Assist in surgery with animal patients
Monitor anesthesia
Monitor patients recovery after surgery, before and after extubation
Take diagnostic quality x-rays
All other assistant duties associated with care of pets in our facility
Schedule:
Varying shifts Monday - Friday
Four-day workweek between 7:30AM and 5:30PM
This job requires the ability to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch and climb as well as manipulate (lift, carry, move) up to 50 pounds. This job requires good hand-eye coordination, arm-hand-finger dexterity with the ability to reach and grasp, and the visual acuity to use a keyboard, operate equipment and read information. Employees are routinely exposed to a variety of pets that may bite or scratch, and on occasion, could be exposed to anesthesia, radiation, biological hazards and medications.
Education: High school or equivalent (Preferred)
Must be 18 years or older.

Pay: From $15-18 per hour based on experience
