Quality Profession - USA
General Accountability

This position is responsible for monitoring and reviewing quality control data, technical problem solving in conjunction with the US Laboratory Managers, and responding to clients00 technical concerns in some cases.
Responsibilities

Technical

Investigate client technical concerns and quality incidents
Work directly with the North American Quality Team based in Vancouver
Liaise with local branch managers on resolving technical concerns
Communicate with clients on the outcome of investigations and generate corrected data certificates
Assemble summary reports on multiple, serious and/or systematic errors for clients
Use MS Excel to review data, create charts and perform statistical functions
Generate and evaluate comparison data for trends, biases or problems
Quality Control Information

Generate and review quality control data for trends, biases or problems
Generate QC data and create custom QC reports for clients using MS Excel and Word
Track and follow up on potential contamination from high samples
Determine control limits for standard reference materials
Enter information into ALS Group00s proprietary software system
Coordinate Proficiency Tests and Round Robins and follow up on the results
Review, inventory and make recommendations for certified reference materials
Work with lab on method validations
Audits – Internal

Perform audits of laboratory sample batches
Perform local and branch laboratory quality audits
Travel to branch labs may be required
Follow up on timely closure of audits
Review non-conformances for trends and bring to the attention of the manager
Quality Meetings & Presentations and Documentation

Chair the bi-weekly US Quality meetings
Prepare the material for quality meetings
Follow up on delegated action items
Presents Quality Orientation to new staff
Update quality documentation
Other duties as assigned by the Manager
Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

Excellent computer skills including MS Excel and MS Word
Excellent command of the English language, both verbal and written communication skills
Knowledge and experience with basic statistics
Ability to systematically analyze information and identify possible causes and consequences
Excellent clerical accuracy and typing skills
Strong interpersonal and organizational abilities
Required Qualifications

B.Sc. in Chemistry (or related field)
Knowledge and experience with basic statistics
Minimum 1 year experience in chemical analysis (AAS, ICP-AES, ICP-MS, XRF or classical assaying techniques)
Preference will be given to candidates with previous QA experience
Physical Demands

Ability to sit or stand for long periods of time
Position will require you to work with a computer for a majority of the day
