Job Overview
As a Material Planner on the Global Manufacturing and Supply (GMS) team, you will administer procurement activities and day‑to‑day supplier management for assigned commodities and products. You will make, manage, and execute buying decisions to ensure uninterrupted product flow, coordinate product availability information externally and internally, and ensure all deliverable dates are met to reach facility service‑level goals.

Responsibilities

Maintain communications internally and externally to surface and resolve issues that can impact operating efficiencies.

Make buying decisions from various suppliers.

Analyze and manage appropriate reports such as supplier performance reports, MRP exception reports, and open P.O. reports to ensure on‑time material availability and proper inventory levels.

Investigate and review all material quality complaints and problems, both internal and external, and forward correspondence to appropriate personnel.

Analyze excess and obsolete material and initiate disposition via various channels, both internal and external.

Initiate projects that eliminate non‑value‑added activities, increase quality and service, and reduce costs. Closely monitor commodity market trends and take advantage of cost reduction, quality improvement, and service improvement opportunities.

Develop an in‑depth knowledge of suppliers, industries, technologies and manufacturing processes and purchasing strategies for assigned commodities.

Demonstrate knowledge of purchasing and associated material management systems. Develop skills and obtain knowledge in negotiation, and contract terms and conditions.

Complete mandatory training within required timeframe.

Perform other duties as assigned.

What You Bring To Takeda

Bachelor's Degree in Business or closely related field and 3+ years procurement experience preferred.

Experience in a biotech/pharmaceutical industry a plus.

Solid knowledge and experience in purchasing principles. Purchasing certificates preferred.

Experience preparing & implementing policies, systems & procedures.

Experience working in a fast‑paced manufacturing environment with multiple projects and products.

Strong analytical, negotiation and team‑building skills.

General knowledge of GAAP/SOX and an understanding of internal accounting controls.

Strong verbal and written communications skills as well as strong negotiation skills.

Knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook. ERP system knowledge – SAP preferred.

Important Considerations

Work in a controlled environment requiring special gowning and wearing protective clothing over the head, face, hands, feet and body. This may include additional hearing protection for loud areas.

Need to remove all make‑up, jewelry, contact lenses, nail polish and/or artificial fingernails while in the manufacturing environment.

Work in a cold, wet environment.

Work multiple shifts, including weekends, or be asked to work supplemental hours, as necessary.

Work around chemicals such as alcohol, acids, buffers and Celite that may require respiratory protection.

In general, the position requires a combination of sedentary work and walking around the C‑GMP manufacturing facility.

May occasionally work in a cleanroom environment and wear special garments and personal protective equipment (e.g., hard hats, safety shoes, safety glasses, earplugs) due to safety requirements in specific areas.

Some travel may be required less than 20%.

Compensation and Benefits
U.S. Base Salary Range: $71,800.00 – $112,860.00.

The estimated salary range reflects an anticipated range for this position. The actual base salary offered may depend on a variety of factors, including the qualifications of the individual applicant for the position, years of relevant experience, specific and unique skills, level of education attained, certifications or other professional licenses held, and the location in which the applicant lives and/or from which they will be performing the job. The actual base salary offered will be in accordance with state or local minimum wage requirements for the job location.

U.S. based employees may be eligible for short‑term and/or long‑term incentives. U.S. based employees may be eligible to participate in medical, dental, vision insurance, a 401(k) plan and company match, short‑term and long‑term disability coverage, basic life insurance, a tuition reimbursement program, paid volunteer time off, company holidays, and well‑being benefits, among others.
