L2 Data Center Operations Technician - Kansas City, MO
Clearance Required: Active Public Trust (ADP- IT)
Duration: 12-month project
Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced L2 Data Center Operations Technician to support ongoing data center operations and a large-scale 12-month technology refresh initiative. This role requires hands‑on expertise in hardware support, rack and stack deployments, and cabling within a data center environment. Candidates must possess an active Public Trust ADP IT‑I clearance.
Key Responsibilities
Perform rack, stack, and cabling of data center equipment
Execute inter‑rack cabling (IRC) and ensure proper cable management
Respond to and resolve IRC alerts and infrastructure issues
Conduct Level 2 field engineering (L2 FE) support for hardware troubleshooting
Replace and install hardware components including:
Memory (RAM)
Hard drives (HDD/SSD)
Power supplies
Other server components as needed
Support a large‑scale tech refresh project, including deployment and decommissioning activities
Maintain accurate documentation of work performed and inventory usage
Follow data center standards, safety protocols, and operational procedures
Required Qualifications
Active Public Trust ADP IT‑I clearance (required)
Proven experience in a data center operations or field engineering role (L2 level)
Hands‑on experience with:
Rack and stack deployments
Structured cabling and inter‑rack connectivity
Hardware installation and replacement
Ability to troubleshoot hardware issues independently
Strong attention to detail and adherence to procedures
Ability to work flexible shifts, including nights and weekends as needed
Preferred Qualifications
Experience supporting large‑scale data center refresh or migration projects
Familiarity with data center monitoring and alerting systems
Basic networking knowledge
Work Environment
On‑site data center environment
Physically active role (lifting, moving equipment, standing for extended periods)
Fast‑paced during peak phases of the tech refresh project
