Core Infrastructure Management
Servers, storage systems, and racks
Network equipment (switches, routers, firewalls)
Perform hardware upgrades, replacements, and decommissions
Cable management (fiber and copper patching)
Rack and stack equipment for new customer deployments
Patch firmware and systems where applicable
Customer Support (Key in Multi-Customer DCs)
Provide Remote Hands Services: Rebooting servers, swapping drives or cables, checking indicator lights or console output, change management & documentation
Follow strict change control processes
Maintain Accurate Documentation
Rack layouts
Network diagrams
Asset inventory
Log all work performed for auditing and compliance
Vendor & Hardware Coordination
Hardware repairs (RMA)
Maintenance contracts
Schedule and supervise third-party work
IT Asset Management & Inventory
Servers, networking equipment, storage devices
Customer-owned vs. provider-owned hardware
Tag and label equipment with asset IDs and customer identifiers
Track asset locations (rack, cabinet, cage level)
Ensure proper disposal or recycling of retired equipment (following compliance standards)
Receiving & Logistics
Receive, inspect, and log incoming equipment shipments
Verify contents against purchase orders or customer requests
Coordinate staging of equipment before deployment
Manage shipping and returns (RMAs)
Documentation & Asset Tracking Systems
Update and maintain asset management systems (e.g., CMDB, DCIM tools)
Record
Serial numbers
MAC addresses
Warranty details
Ownership (customer-specific tracking is key in multi-tenant DCs)
