Description
Join our dynamic AWS team as a Data Center Technician. You will be responsible for installing, repairing, and troubleshooting servers, networking, power, and cooling equipment to ensure uninterrupted service for our global customers.
Key Job Responsibilities
Perform server rack installations and hardware break‑fix on various components.
Troubleshoot network issues and respond to operational incidents, escalating to senior technicians or management as needed.
Serve as the primary contact for internal and external stakeholders, including engineers, software developers, vendors, and contractors.
Perform on‑call duties and participate in scheduled maintenance and change management activities.
Contribute to documentation and process improvement initiatives based on operational issue analysis.
Help train and onboard new team members.
Physical Requirements
Regularly lift or move up to 40 pounds; group lifts for 41+ pounds.
Work in cramped or elevated locations, bending, lifting, stretching, and reaching.
Stand and walk for up to 8+ hours a day.
Ascend and descend ladders, stairs, and gangways safely.
Work in a noisy environment with shifts longer than 8 hours to support 24/7 operations, covering night and day shifts.
Essential Requirements
Ability to travel between data center locations as needed.
Willingness to work temporarily at alternative sites during training periods or until the assigned facility becomes operational.
Travel frequency will vary based on business needs and operational status.
Must be able to travel over 50 miles or commute less than 50 miles to active data center sites as required.
A Day in the Life
Take ownership of technical issues from the customer base, engaging other teams when necessary to drive resolution.
Solve problems at their root and understand the broader context.
Maintain service level agreements through proactive issue detection and reporting.
Basic Qualifications
High school or equivalent diploma.
1+ year of computer/server hardware troubleshooting or related IT experience.
Ability to work on a flexible schedule, including days, nights, and/or weekends.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience managing work and priorities through a ticketing system.
Experience working in a Data Center environment.
An Associate’s degree, technical certification, or equivalent professional or military experience in a relevant field (e.g., computer science, networking engineering).
Understanding of network design, protocols, and layer 1/2 troubleshooting.
