About the position
As a Senior Project Manager, you will lead large-scale projects (often > €10M), manage financial performance, and ensure successful execution from quotation through commissioning and close‑down. Projects are typically cross‑cultural and may involve multiple GEA companies.
Your responsibilities and tasks
Manage large projects (usually > €10M) as a Professional Project Manager.
Overall responsible for the execution of a large project, from the initial quotation through commissioning, handover, and project close‑down, often cross‑cultural and across multiple GEA companies.
Overall responsible for the financial performance and result of each project, ensuring the best outcome for GEA.
Define and organize project structure, providing strong direction for the team to ensure success.
Promote a strong culture of ownership within the project team to meet objectives.
Plan and update project schedule, monitoring progress, man‑hour estimates, and margin goals.
Report project development to multiple stakeholders, including steering committees, customers, and internal stakeholders.
Coordinate tasks to align with GEA’s standard practices, procedures, and customer expectations.
Ensure delivery of large projects according to scope, cost, quality, and schedule – within budget.
Generate project deliverables on time, in line with commercial and technical offers.
Manage customer relations and satisfaction throughout project execution.
Ensure site work is managed by the site manager, and health & safety is implemented at all times; attend client meetings on site to facilitate commissioning of equipment and verify KPIs.
Manage risk, mitigating and minimizing project risks.
Motivate, capture, and evaluate lessons learned throughout the project.
Create procurement plans with the supply chain to schedule fabrication and component receipt to meet project schedules.
Oversee contractor management performed by responsible functional areas.
Ultimately responsible for contractor selection based on RFQ outcomes—including technical evaluations by the execution team and commercial evaluations by procurement. Lead a large team of project engineers without direct line reporting and travel approximately 25% domestically and internationally.
Your profile and qualifications
Educational Background
M.Sc. or B.Sc. in Mechanical, Chemical, Process, or Electrical Engineering, or equivalent experience in a similar role.
PMI certification or another relevant project management qualification is preferred.
Professional Knowledge and Experiences
Experience in intercultural and multinational project management.
Strong understanding of project management methodologies and commercial project management.
More than 5 years of experience managing large technical projects.
Experience with legal and contractual matters, negotiation, and dispute resolution.
Successful track record of completing large projects on time, within budget, and with high customer satisfaction and quality.
Other Skills & Competencies

Commercial awareness, exploring risks and opportunities.
Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities, proactively preventing future issues.
