Criminal Intelligence Technician (Research Analyst 2)

* Conduct advanced open-source, social media, and commercial data research to identify trends, associations, and investigative leads.* Analyze ambiguous or incomplete information and produce actionable intelligence for investigative use.* Develop and refine methodologies for collecting, validating, and integrating open‐source information.* Maintain systematic processes for ongoing data collection, evaluation, and synthesis.* Transform raw data from multiple systems into comprehensive reports supporting ACISS assessments and investigations.* Consult with case agents, ACISS personnel, and intelligence leadership to assess the value and credibility of findings.* Document and escalate potential threats or criminal activity to appropriate personnel.* Coordinate analytical findings with senior analysts to ensure alignment with mission priorities.* Ensure all open‐source activities comply with Criminal Justice Division policies, ACISS privacy standards, SINs, and PIRs.* Prepare and deliver search results, monitoring summaries, monthly metrics, and other reports to ACISS leadership and investigators.* Support programs such as Suspicious Activity Reporting, Risk and Vulnerability Assessments, Special Event Threat Assessments, and Dignitary Protection.* Maintain thorough documentation that ensures clarity, reproducibility, and adherence to established procedures.* Perform special projects and additional duties as assigned.* Experience supporting real‐time operational environments, such as public safety, crisis communications, corporate security, or newsroom settings.* Formal training or professional certifications in OSINT, investigative practices, or intelligence analysis.* Proficiency with data‐visualization and mapping tools to support analytical assessments and reporting.* Strong understanding of OSINT collection techniques, verification workflows, and source reliability evaluation.* Familiarity with major social media and digital platforms, including their real‐time dynamics, community norms, and content ecosystems.* Proficiency with verification methods such as reverse‐image searches, geolocation, chrono location, and cross‐source validation.* Skilled in advanced search strategies, including Boolean logic and multilingual search fundamentals.* Awareness of risk and threat domains, including public safety concerns, misinformation tactics, and emerging extremist or fraud trends.* Knowledge of legal and ethical frameworks governing open‐source research, including privacy standards and policy compliance.* Strong reporting abilities, with attention to evidentiary standards, documentation quality, and clear communication to stakeholders.**Required** **Experience and Special Requirements*** Job satisfaction as part of a team whose mission is to serve Oregon's public and government agencies.* Opportunity to expand your skills as a Criminal Intelligence Analyst.* Permanent, full-time employment in beautiful Salem, Oregon.* A workplace where individual contribution matters and is recognized, where creativity and accomplishment are rewarded.* Vacation, sick leave, 11 paid holidays a year, and special days off.* Endless peer and management support, and representation by the Service Employees International Union (SEIU).* Click "Apply" and complete the online application and all supplemental questions.* Attach your resume.* Attach your cover letter identifying your attributes that meet desired and requested skills.
