Municipal Project Manager - Fargo, ND

Are you a driven civil engineer with a passion for shaping communities through impactful infrastructure design? AE2S is looking for an entrepreneurial Municipal Project Manager to lead and grow our municipal services. This role offers the opportunity to build and expand a team, develop and foster client relationships, and take ownership of projects that improve how communities live, work, and grow.

Responsibilities

Provide professional services for municipal civil engineering projects, including design, plans, specifications, reports, project budgets, scope of work, permits, contracts, schedules, estimates, and coordination of sub‑consultants and contractors.

Manage client relationships: maintain, enhance existing and pursued relationships, and identify, evaluate, and lead project opportunities.

Manage multi‑disciplinary staff resources and sub‑consultants to deliver high quality projects tailored to client requests.

Develop and maintain budgets and schedules of project assignments.

Coordinate, facilitate, and lead internal and external meetings.

Provide quality control and assurance as part of AE2S’ overall municipal practice.

Basic Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in civil engineering or related field.

Professional Engineer registration or ability to obtain registration within 6 months.

6+ years of experience in civil engineering.

Strong oral and written communication skills.

Ability to travel as required for project/client responsibilities and business development.

2+ years of experience as a project engineer for municipal clients.

All applicants must be able to complete required pre‑employment onboarding requirements, including background checks, drug screen, and motor vehicle records search.

Preferred Qualifications

Master’s degree in civil engineering or related field.

2+ years of experience as a municipal client manager.

Proficiency with Civil 3D.

Ability to lead both internal initiatives and external projects.

Strong multi‑tasking and project management skills.

Professional Engineer registration in North Dakota or ability to obtain registration within 6 months.

Physical Requirements

Walk up to 3 miles on uneven terrain.

Stand or sit for prolonged periods.

Occasionally climb, stoop, bend, kneel, crouch, reach, and twist.

Occasionally lift, carry, push, and pull light to moderate weight.

May lift and carry up to 20 pounds, with rare lifting up to 50 pounds.

Inspect equipment, structures, or materials for defects and errors.

Wear personal protection equipment (PPE) as required.

May require occasional evenings and weekends with overtime expectations varying by workload.

May require travel to off‑site locations, including occasional overnight stays.
