The didwgalic Wellness Center is seeking an energetic, self‑motivated Substance Use Disorder Professional (SUDP) to join an integrated care clinic that combines primary care, behavioral health, and opiate treatment under one roof. The SUDP will provide individual, family, and group counseling for patients in substance use disorder programs, act as a mediator between patients, relatives, medical staff, and external agencies when needed, track patient progress and dispense treatment services, and report to the Substance Use Disorder Professional Clinical Supervisor and the Clinical Director.

Duties and Responsibilities

Provide up to 120 hours per month of direct counseling and case management services, including individual, group, family, and educational sessions, assessment, counseling, and aftercare.

Easily orient clients to the facility, explaining rules, hours of service, client rights, grievance procedures, and any costs.

Identify and explore problems and their ramifications, considering client attitudes and feelings; with client participation, examine alternatives and develop action plans.

Recognize and respond to crises that may negatively impact treatment, and where possible, use such events to enhance treatment efforts.

Lead discussions and present lectures and films for group sessions.

Maintain professional standards and adhere to treatment policies set by the agency and applicable federal, state, and local regulations.

Conduct follow‑up on treatment programs designed for and undertaken by each patient.

Coordinate and cooperate with staff from other agencies and organizations to expedite treatment for each patient.

Prepare and maintain confidential, accurate, organized, and up‑to‑date case files for each client; complete all required administrative forms and tracking efficiently.

Maintain accurate and current recordkeeping for each patient within the electronic records system, following all agency procedures and protocols.

Prepare patient progress reports and completion notices for interfacing agencies such as courts, probation departments, and referral sources.

Participate in community educational programs on substance use disorder for the general public, professionals, and industrial groups.

Maintain all requirements to keep SUDP licensure/certification current and in good standing.

Perform any additional duties assigned by the Substance Use Disorder Professional Clinical Supervisor and the Clinical Director Manager.

Education and Experience

Minimum of a high‑school diploma or equivalent; must be a certified Substance Use Disorder Professional in good standing with the State of Washington.

No history of alcohol or other drug misuse for three years prior to employment, and no evidence of misuse while employed; must not be on prescribed medication that interferes with job performance or is inconsistent with the wellness center’s mission.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Knowledge of human behavior and performance; individual differences in ability, personality, and interests; learning and motivation; psychological research methods; assessment and treatment of behavioral and affective disorders.

Ability to work in a cross‑culture environment; understand the social and cultural context of patients; appreciate trauma, historical, community, family, and personal experience in recovery.

Understanding and adherence to state (RCW, WAC) and federal confidentiality regulations (42 CFR Part 2). Conduct oneself ethically and professionally at all times.

Effective communication skills—written, verbal, and interpersonal, including conflict resolution.

Basic computer skills, including proficiency with MS Office products.

Must pass extensive criminal background check, pre‑employment drug and COVID‑19 screening, and provide proof of COVID‑19 vaccination.
