As energy opportunities expand, coal and power facility jobs are declining across the United States. The Energy Communities AmeriCorps VISTA project will develop and advance programs that increase environmental awareness and stewardship, job training, employment pathways, and access to existing federal and community resources for low‑income individuals living in energy transition communities.
VISTA members will serve low‑income energy communities experiencing energy transformations. They will be placed with local organizations to help assess environmental impacts, identify existing supports, and develop economic transformation and revitalization goals with their communities.
Program Terms
Full time
1‑year in length
Begin in October 2024
All positions require in‑person service at the host agency
The living allowance for Energy Communities VISTAs is $88.63 per day (including weekends), equivalent to approximately $32,349.95 per year.
Responsibilities
Community Assessment: develop and implement community surveys, resource maps, identify local supports, and identify community stakeholders.
Partnership Building: develop internal and external committees, build coalitions, develop board and outreach to create lasting partnerships in the community.
Strategic Planning: create strategic plans including outreach, marketing, funding, program development and implementation plans.
Program Development and Implementation: grant writing, fundraising, outreach, volunteer program development, database development, and pilot programs.
Evaluation: evaluate implemented programs, identify best practices, and expand program efficiency, effectiveness, and reach.

Living Allowance ($88.63/day, disbursed every two weeks)
