Job Summary
LJB Inc., a national engineering firm founded in 1966, specializes in civil and structural engineering and offers geospatial, safety, and environmental services across all 50 states and several countries. Within our Transportation Practice, LJB has spent more than five decades designing infrastructure that connects people, supports communities, and improves quality of life. We are currently seeking an experienced Roadway Design Engineer – Project Manager to support and grow our Transportation Practice in our Raleigh, NC office.
Compensation
Annual Compensation: $95,000 – $185,000 based upon experience, certifications, and regional market standards.

Responsibilities
Responsible for scope, fees, and profitability of individual projects as well as a portfolio of projects.
Point person and firm’s contact with clients while functioning as project manager.
Assists in new sales with clients for which they are managing projects.
Guides and coordinates all internal LJB transportation disciplines, with sub-consultants, and clients.
Has a basic understanding of what the other transportation disciplines do and what they require as part of specific projects.
Responsible for the nine knowledge areas, according to the Project Management Institute (PMI), that are associated with each phase of the project they are managing, including:
Project Integration Management
Project Scope Management
Project Time Management
Project Cost Management
Project Quality Management
Project Human Resource Management
Project Communications Management
Project Risk Management
Project Procurement Management
Responsible for assisting the Deputy Operations Manager in maintaining PM best practices.
On larger projects, PM may or may not be involved directly in the design.
Apprise Deputy Operations Manager of employee performance on particular projects.
Provide information to Deputy Operations Manager on future projects so they can manage staffing.
Assist in informal development of other employees.
Education and Credentials
Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering required.
P.E. license required; North Carolina PE is preferred. Successful candidates will be expected to obtain their NC PE within the first year of hire.
Qualifications
At least 10 years of experience in consulting or engineering required; 5 years of project management experience preferred.
Experience working on DOT design projects required, experience with multiple DOTs is a plus.
Deltek Vantagepoint or similar CRM and Project Management software experience preferred.
MicroStation, OpenRoads, AutoCAD, and Civil-3D software experience preferred.
