Job Summary
This position functions as an integral member of the athletic health care team in the high school. It works with individuals engaged in physical activity in the prevention of injuries and illnesses, the recognition, evaluation, and immediate care of injuries and illnesses, the rehabilitation and reconditioning of injuries and illnesses, and the administration of the health care system. The position must have current certification in CPR and be qualified in first aid and blood borne pathogens. It ensures that the student‑athlete is able to participate in practices and games following a sports‑related injury. It completes documentation on the prevention, treatment, rehabilitation, and reconditioning of student‑athletes, and communicates with school administrators, coaches, and parents regarding a student‑athlete’s participation status. It assists in developing formal educational or instructional content on subject matter related to athletic training or sports medicine for high school classes and participates in annual OSHA training for blood borne pathogens.
Core Responsibilities
Work in person and physically report for work on site.
Prevent injuries and illnesses related to student‑athlete physical activity.
Recognize, evaluate, and provide immediate care of injuries and illnesses.
Rehabilitate and recondition injuries and illnesses.
Maintain documentation on prevention, treatment, rehabilitation, and reconditioning of student‑athletes.
Communicate with school administrators, coaches, and parents regarding student‑athlete participation status.
Assist in developing educational or instructional content related to athletic training or sports medicine for high school classes.
Participate in annual OSHA training for blood borne pathogens.
Ensure student‑athletes can participate in practices and games following sports‑related injuries.
Qualifications
Current certification in CPR.
Qualified in first aid.
Qualified in blood borne pathogens.
Ability to physically report for work on site.
