Mental Health Technician – Day Shift

The Brook – Dupont, located in Louisville, KY, is an 88‑bed hospital offering a full continuum of inpatient, extended care, partial hospitalization and outpatient services for children and adults.

We are seeking compassionate, dependable Mental Health Associates to join our behavioral health team. In this role, you will provide direct patient care, ensure safety, and support individuals receiving psychiatric and substance use treatment in a structured inpatient setting.

What You’ll Do
Monitor patient safety and maintain awareness of patient location and condition at all times
Conduct and document safety rounds and close observations per policy
Assist with admissions and discharges, including belongings search and documentation
Support implementation of individualized treatment plans
Observe, document, and report changes in behavior, mood, and physical condition
Utilize approved de‑escalation techniques to manage behavioral concerns
Follow all policies related to crisis intervention, seclusion, and restraint
Assist patients with activities of daily living, including hygiene and personal care
Obtain and record vital signs and other assigned clinical data
Complete required documentation accurately and timely (flow sheets, observation records, detox monitoring)
Support therapeutic groups, structured activities, and meal supervision
Maintain a clean, safe, and therapeutic environment

Qualifications
What We’re Looking For
High school diploma or GED required
Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Psychology, Social Work, Human Services, or related field preferred
Previous experience in behavioral health, psychiatric care, substance use treatment, or healthcare preferred
CPR certification required (or willingness to obtain)
Handle With Care – Safe Physical Management certification required (or willingness to obtain)
Strong communication, documentation, and teamwork skills
Ability to remain calm and professional in high‑stress situations
