The Role
The West of Scotland Cancer Network (WoSCAN) is responsible for the quality delivery of inpatient, outpatient and day‑case Systemic Anti‑Cancer Therapy (SACT) services in NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde, Lanarkshire, Ayrshire and Arran and Forth Valley as well as locations within NHS Highland. An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced pharmacy technician to join the WoSCAN Chemotherapy Electronic Prescribing and Administration (CEPAS) team for a period of 12 months. The position will focus on supporting the upgrade of the CEPAS pharmacy aseptic dispensing module and will offer opportunities to contribute to service development, quality improvement and regional projects.
Duration, Location and Working Pattern
Based at the Beatson West of Scotland Cancer Centre, with flexible working arrangements considered
Fixed‑term for 12 months
Secondment appointments available, consideration for part‑time or job share arrangements
Shift pattern to be agreed with the successful candidate
Key Responsibilities
Contribute to the safe and effective implementation of the CEPAS aseptic pharmacy dispensing module across all four health boards within the West of Scotland Cancer Network (WoSCAN)
Collaborate closely with the WoSCAN CEPAS pharmacy support team, accountable pharmacists and lead pharmacy technicians throughout WoSCAN to ensure the safe and effective delivery of the module
Carry out system setup essential for the upgrade process
Assist with updating the WoSCAN aseptic pharmacy product stability database
Deliver education and training to users of the CEPAS aseptic pharmacy module
Support the development and refinement of standard operating procedures, ensuring alignment with governance and operational processes
Operate both collaboratively within a multi‑disciplinary team and independently as required, across all healthboards within WoSCAN
Knowledge, training, qualifications and/or experience required to do the job
GPhC‑registered Pharmacy Technician with post‑qualification hospital experience
Demonstrable experience in aseptic pharmacy dispensing
Demonstrable experience in utilising CEPAS, Chemocare ©, within WoSCAN
Strong communication and interpersonal skills for effective interaction within pharmacy teams across all four health boards, the wider multidisciplinary team, and the third‑party supplier of the CEPAS system
Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail
Competent IT skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office
