Job Description
The Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) provides high‑quality, compassionate, and efficient patient care under the direction and supervision of licensed nursing staff. In alignment with Oregon’s updated 2025 CNA certification standards, the CNA performs a comprehensive range of clinical, clerical, and support functions that promote patient health, safety, and dignity. All CNA tasks are carried out under the direction of a Registered Nurse, who provides guidance and oversight to ensure safe and appropriate care delivery. Responsibilities include assisting with daily living activities, collecting objective data, supporting therapeutic interventions, maintaining accurate documentation, coordinating unit activities, and ensuring a safe, clean, and organized environment.
Skills and Abilities
Ability to organize and prioritize work effectively
Able to work collaboratively with patients, families, and interdisciplinary healthcare teams
Strong understanding of cultural sensitivity and developmental stages of care
Proficiency in basic computer use and electronic documentation
Familiarity with medical terminology preferred
Ability to follow verbal and written instructions with attention to detail
Demonstrates reliability, professionalism, and punctuality
Education, Certifications, Licenses
High school diploma or equivalent required
Current, valid Oregon CNA certification (per the 2025 unified certification requirements)
American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required
Experience
Previous CNA experience in a hospital or acute care setting preferred
Strong customer service, interpersonal, observational, and communication skills required
Physical / Mental / Environmental Requirements
Ability to frequently sit, stand, walk, bend, squat, reach, and stretch
May be required to lift up to 50 pounds
Requires manual dexterity and effective hand‑eye coordination
Must communicate clearly and effectively in English via reading, writing, and speaking
Regular exposure to body fluids and standard precautions required
Requires use of personal computers and electronic health records system
