CNC Process Technician (Setup, Tooling & G-Code Support)
Position Summary
Pentaflex, Inc is seeking a highly skilled CNC Process Technician to support and optimize manufacturing operations across CNC machining, metal stamping, robotic cells, and assembly. This role is a hands‑on technical resource responsible for machine setups, tooling management, program edits, and real‑time troubleshooting to ensure production runs efficiently and parts consistently meet specification.
This is not an operator role. This position requires strong technical ability, independent problem-solving, and ownership of machining processes on the production floor.
Key Responsibilities
Perform full CNC machine setups including tooling, offsets, and first‑piece validation
Edit and adjust CNC programs using
G‑code
to maintain part conformance
Maintain tooling across multiple CNC machines (mills and VTLs)
Monitor tooling wear; perform tool changes and adjustments as needed
Adjust tooling and offsets to keep parts within required specifications for operators
Utilize CMM and inspection data to make process and tooling adjustments
Troubleshoot machining and equipment issues; identify root causes and implement solutions
Communicate effectively with Maintenance, Engineering, Toolroom, and Quality when issues arise
Support robotic cells and automated manufacturing systems as needed
Assist Toolroom with tooling and fixture‑related needs
Work cross‑functionally with Operations, Engineering, Maintenance, and Quality to ensure product quality
Document setups, adjustments, and production issues clearly and accurately
Drive continuous improvement in quality, uptime, and efficiency
Required Skills & Qualifications
Strong experience in CNC setup and process support in a production environment
In‑depth understanding of tooling, wear characteristics, and adjustments required to maintain tolerances
Ability to interpret CMM data and make necessary process/tooling adjustments
Proven ability to independently identify, troubleshoot, and resolve machining issues at the machine
Strong mechanical aptitude and hands‑on problem‑solving skills
Ability to use hand tools, automated equipment, and industrial measuring instruments
High attention to detail with a focus on maintaining tight tolerances and quality standards
Strong communication skills and ability to clearly document/log information
Education and/or Experience
CNC setup experience required (mills, lathes, and/or VTLs)
Experience editing CNC programs using
G‑code
required
Proficient in measuring parts using standard inspection equipment (calipers, micrometers, gauges, etc.)
Experience working across multiple machines/work centers in a production environment
Experience in a multi‑process environment (machining, stamping, assembly, automation) preferred
