Location: Remote (Training will be on-site)

Position Purpose
The Scheduling Specialist supports customer relations, physician relations, patient care and hospital business services by performing quality functions for scheduling and registering services for multiple areas throughout the hospital. The Specialist is responsible for timely and accurate appointment scheduling with expertise in scheduling protocols, registration, insurance verification, and identification of patient responsibilities.

Key Responsibilities

Completes scheduling of appointments, pre-registration, insurance verification and authorization, and collects out-of-pocket payments.

Analyzes patient insurance(s), identifies the correct insurance plan, selects the appropriate plan from HIS insurance selections, and documents the insurance order.

Maintains knowledge of insurance requirements communicated by email, memorandum, educational materials, and in‑services.

Ensures that all staff, patients, departments, and external resources are notified of additions, changes, and cancellations.

Collects self‑pay deposits, co‑payments, and deductibles from patients.

Reconciles all point‑of‑service payments at end of shift and deposits with Cashier as per department policy.

Provides instructions to prepare patients for examination, procedure, and financial requirements, including the need for a signed ABN or Financial Responsibility Form.

Minimum Qualifications

High School graduate or equivalent (required).

Associate degree (preferred).

2+ years of relevant experience (required).

CPCS (preferred).

Compensation
Pay Range: $19.72 – $27.61 per hour, based on experience, skills, and education. Exempt positions under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) will be paid within the base salary equivalent of the stated hourly rates.
