Job Summary And Qualifications
Women’s Resource Nurse
The Registered Nurse performs direct patient care within the scope of the Registered Nurse Practice Act. Utilizes therapeutic communication in daily practice. Maintains a safe therapeutic environment. Identifies nursing problems as they relate to the individual needs of the patient. Plans individualized care utilizing an interdisciplinary approach. Participates in performance improvement activities. Provides care and coordinates participation that fosters the goals of the hospital’s mission and vision statement.
When acting in charge nurse role, registered nurses are responsible for day-to-day activities to ensure the delivery of quality patient care in a therapeutic environment. Make staff assignments based on patient need and the skill of the staff. Serve as role models and clinical resource for the staff. Respond in a timely manner to requests for information or follow-up with physician, staff or patient issues. Women’s RN Resource positions will float to Labor & Delivery, Mother/Baby, High Risk OB, and OB/GYN ER.
What you will do in this role
You will utilize the nursing process: assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation to individualize holistic care to meet the needs of perinatal, postnatal and GYN patients and their families
You will demonstrate knowledge of human growth and development, assessment, range of treatment, and care of patients appropriate to the ages of patients served
You will provide care – demonstrating knowledge of pregnancy, labor and birth with associated complications
You will provide care – demonstrating knowledge of GYN complications
You will deliver care with respect to individual’s spiritual and cultural needs
You will demonstrate competency in peri-operative care
You will demonstrate competency with PACU recovery for perinatal patients
You will integrate the various methods of patient care documentation
You will provide patient education and documentation of understanding
You will demonstrate competency in fetal monitoring
What qualifications you will need
Graduate of an Accredited School of Nursing
Current TN RN licensure
American Heart Association BLS certification
Current ACLS & PALS certification or within 6 months of hire
Current NRP certifications or within 6 months of hire
Current AWHONN fetal monitoring Certification or within 1 year of hire or Certified Electronic Fetal Monitoring (CEFM) after eligibility
2 years of Labor and Delivery experience preferred
Must have experience in at least 2 of the following areas: L&D, Mother/Baby, High Risk OB/GYN, or ER
