Job Description
This Composite robotics technician will operate and program a highly automated Auto Fiber Placement (AFP) machine that uses a large KUKA robot to produce advanced composite components in an aerospace manufacturing environment.
The role supports continuous improvement of automated composite production processes with a strong focus on safety, quality, and productivity, and manages multiple priorities in a fast‑paced setting.
Shift & Schedule
1st shift: 6:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., with flexibility for later start times such as 7:00 a.m. or 8:00 a.m.
Responsibilities
Operate and run a highly automated Auto Fiber Placement (AFP) machine built by Ingersoll that utilizes a large KUKA robot.
Program and adjust robotics equipment, including KUKA robots and Siemens control systems, to support automated composite production.
Support the development of new automated composite production processes using AFP technology.
Lead and contribute to continuous improvement projects focused on safety, quality, and productivity in composite manufacturing.
Interpret and apply GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing) to ensure parts meet engineering specifications and quality standards.
Work with composite materials, including carbon fiber, to produce components that meet design and performance requirements.
Manage multiple assignments and tasks at varying levels of priority while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail.
Collaborate with engineering, production, and quality teams to troubleshoot issues and optimize machine performance.
Document process changes, machine settings, and improvements to support repeatability and knowledge sharing.
Follow all safety procedures, quality standards, and operational guidelines while working with automated machinery and composite materials.
Essential Skills
Associate degree or technical school certificate (such as robotics, automation, manufacturing, or a related discipline).
Proven ability to program robotics (KUKA or any brand).
Knowledge of GD&T.
Strong problem‑solving skills and ability to troubleshoot automated equipment and process issues.
Nice to Have Skills & Qualifications
Previous experience with composites and carbon fiber manufacturing processes.
Understanding of Siemens 840D control systems.
Experience in aerospace or OEM assembly environments with composite bonding or fan blade production.
Familiarity with highly automated manufacturing systems and advanced robotics.
Ability to collaborate effectively with cross‑functional teams, including engineering, quality, and production.
Interest in ongoing professional development and online learning platforms.
Work Environment
Contract to Hire through the end of the year, with potential conversion to a direct position. The position is based out of Holt, MI, and is fully onsite.
Employees receive paid time off, including 12 holidays and 2 weeks of PTO, and access to online learning resources such as Udemy after a qualifying period.

Pay range: $15.00 - $27.00 per hour.
