Overview
MUSC Community Physicians (MCP) is an entity within the Medical University of South Carolina that provides healthcare to patients throughout the rural health network of South Carolina.
Responsibilities
Provide administrative coverage at the front desk of the clinic, monitoring the appointment line.
Schedule appointments for clients from outside medical, hospital, and correctional systems.
Answer multiline telephones.
Take payments from clients for clinical services.
Complete client registration and documentation.
Schedule interpreters for clients.
Retrieve billing charges.
Perform general office operations, including patient check‑in/out, charge posting, cash management, and appointment scheduling.
Provide customer service, message distribution, ancillary scheduling, and referrals management.
Requirements
Minimum Education and Experience:
High school diploma or equivalency plus one year of patient care experience in a health care facility , or a Certified Nursing Assistant, or completion of a Nursing Assistant or Medical Assistant course at an accredited institution, or EMT or Paramedic certification, or a Bachelor’s degree.

Physical Requirements
Ability to perform job functions while standing and sitting, walking, climbing stairs, working from elevated areas, in confined or cramped spaces, kneeling positions, bending and twisting at the waist, squatting, performing gross motor activities with fingers and hands, firm grasping, reaching overhead, repetitive hand motions, using lower extremities for balance, reaching in all directions, lifting and carrying 50 lbs. unassisted, lifting objects 50 lbs. from the floor or 36 inches, lifting from 36" to overhead 25 lbs., exerting up to 50 lbs. of force, and performing tasks required to transfer patients or move equipment as described. Ability to maintain 20/40 vision (corrected) in one or both eyes, recognize objects at close or distant range, discriminate colors, determine spatial relationships, maintain hearing acuity (corrected), perform fine motor movements, manage stressful situations, work rotating shifts and overtime as required, work in a latex-safe environment, maintain tactile and olfactory sensory functions, and be qualified physically for respirator use.
