Position Description
Ryder is hiring an experienced Mid‑Level Diesel Technician in Chattanooga, TN – offering weekly pay, excellent benefits, and a Technician career you can feel good about.
Pay and Schedule
Hourly Pay: $25.50 per hour
Certification Bonus of $100 for each new ASE certification obtained, up to $700
Quarterly Bonus: up to $500 each quarter (four times per year)
Schedule: Monday–Friday, weekends off
Hours: Second Shift 2:30 pm – 11:00 pm
Responsibilities
Perform vehicle maintenance and repair duties
Perform standard vehicle maintenance and component inspections
Perform preventive maintenance
Diagnose standard mechanical and electronic problems, utilizing diagnostic computer when applicable
Identify root cause of basic failures/conditions and perform repairs as required
Replace defective components as instructed
Perform facility maintenance duties
Interact with customers/drivers to determine the nature of complaints once a task is assigned
Utilize key functions of shop management system and electronic documentation available
Work in accordance with all federal, provincial, and corporate compliance guidelines (i.e., safety, DOT, MOT)
Perform other support duties as required to support operations (e.g., Service Island support)
Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent (preferred)
Vocational or technical certification, post‑secondary degree, or technical certifications (preferred)
Basic tools required
Demonstrated aptitude and applied experience in mechanical repair of automotive gas or diesel engines, including routine preventative maintenance (oil changes, brake and tire work)
Two or more years of classroom training and work experience (preferred)
Valid Commercial Driver License (CDL) Class A (preferred)
Must be able to obtain a CDL within 6 months after hire
Pass a Ryder drug test, DOT physical, Ryder road test, and background and motor‑vehicle check
