
Physician - Critical Care/Pulmonology (temp/locums)

Job Overview
Our client is seeking a Critical Care / Pulmonology Physician for a 2–3 week temporary assignment covering a provider on vacation. The placement is scheduled for Mon–Thu 1 p.m.–11 p.m. and Fri–Sun 5 p.m.–7 a.m., totaling approximately 66 hours per week, with one week off between each work week.
Responsibilities
Serve as attending for inpatient and outpatient services on a 24‑hour basis; perform evaluations, complete history and physical examinations, order relevant laboratory studies, and supervise housestaff and midlevel providers.
Perform specialty specific procedures such as arterial/venous blood sampling, thoracentesis, arterial and venous catheter placement, central venous line, acute dialysis catheter, PA catheter placement, intubation, fiberoptic bronchoscopy, lumbar puncture, joint aspiration, NG/feeding tube placement, subcutaneous fluid aspiration, bladder catheterization, and portable ultrasound.
Render services in the Medical Intensive Care Unit and Coronary Care Unit.
Provide consultative services in other inpatient and outpatient areas, including Emergency Department, Surgical Intensive Care Unit, Progressive Care Unit, General Medicine, Surgical Units, and outpatient Pulmonary Clinics.
Provide comprehensive assessment, diagnostic work‑up, and clinic intervention, including patient assessment, history, physical examination, and education in the primary care setting.
Make physician‑to‑physician contact calls and coordinate referrals with private and client physicians and tertiary care centers.
Enter all clinical notes, diagnostic requests, consult requests, medication orders, and results into the computerized patient record system (CPRS) on the day of the visit; maintain written backups in case of system failure.
Qualifications
Board Certified or Board Eligible in Critical Care or Pulmonology, with less than four (4) years out of residency.
Active state medical license (any U.S. state acceptable).
Current DEA registration and updated Basic Life Support (BLS) / Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification.
Doctor of Medicine (M.D.) degree from an accredited institution.
Ability to operate with a license in any state, territory, or commonwealth in the United States.
Strong computer skills and proficiency with CPRS; ability to maintain accurate documentation to meet medical center policies and Joint Commission standards.
