Responsibilities
Assesses patients' conditions, develops and administers patient plans of care, documents care, and evaluates outcomes.
Welcomes patients, promotes a therapeutic milieu, provides supervision and feedback to direct care staff.
Assigns rounds and completes precaution records in real time.
Collaborates with the Resource and Referral Department to facilitate admissions, transfers, and hand‑off communication.
Interacts with patients, families, and health‑care providers to collect and analyze data on physical, psychosocial, environmental, self‑care, educational, and discharge‑planning needs.
Participates in interdisciplinary planning and incorporates medical problems into treatment plans.
Assists in developing department goals, participates in activities to improve functioning and professional competence.
Selects and orients qualified personnel, evaluates performance, initiates behavior changes when necessary, participates in program evaluation.
Attends in‑service programs and trainings; serves as a role model and resource for students and staff.
Supervises direct patient care as required; works within budgetary constraints for staffing, overtime, supplies, and equipment.
Qualifications
Education, Skills and Experience Required:
Maintain information as highly confidential.
Nursing degree.
License/Certification Required:
Current State of Illinois Registered Nurse license.
Current CPR certification issued by American Heart Association.
CPI (Crisis Prevention Intervention) certification within 90 days of hire.
Preferred Experience:
One-year psychiatric experience.
Basic knowledge of abnormal psychology typical to psychiatric population.
Familiarity with management of a therapeutic level system and understanding of rewards and consequences system.
