Overview
The Emergency Department Technician functions within the department under the direction of the ED Physician and the ED Resource Nurse. The technician is responsible for maintaining equipment and supplies and providing patient care under the direct supervision of the medical and nursing staff.

Qualifications

Certifications:

Basic Life Support (BLS) within 30 days – American Heart Association (AHA)

Education:

High School Diploma or GED, Completion of EMT or CNA program

Work Experience:

Healthcare Preferred

Responsibilities

Answers call lights and provides comfort measures in coordination with nursing staff

Brings code cart to designated areas and performs cardiac compressions

Cleans and sends instruments for sterilization

Obtains supplies and equipment needed for procedures

Documents appropriate data in the patient chart when care is provided

Maintains all department equipment in functional condition

Performs wound irrigations, wound repair, wound dressings, and surgical preps under direct physician supervision

Prepares patients for transportation and transports them as needed

Removes sutures from well‑healed wounds under direct physician supervision

Assists nursing staff with direct patient care within ED Tech scope

Sutures wounds and applies splints under provider direction and supervision

Facilitates patient flow by assisting with triage, rooming, and transfers

Stocks linen and supplies in the Emergency Department

Performs EKGs on all ED patients

Compensation and Benefits
The compensation range for this position is $17.89per hour - $28.98per hour. This represents a good faith minimum and maximum range for the role at the time of posting by Carle Health. The actual compensation offered a candidate will be dependent on a variety of factors including, but not limited to, the candidate’s experience, qualifications, location, training, licenses, shifts worked and compensation model.
