Key Responsibilities
The Registered Dietitian with acute care experience is responsible for ensuring high-quality nutritional care for both inpatients and outpatients. This includes conducting comprehensive nutritional assessments and evaluations, providing dietary recommendations based on findings, and offering counseling and educational guidance to patients. They design, oversee, and continuously update individualized nutrition care plans, making necessary adjustments and monitoring progress. Additionally, the Clinical Dietitian implements nutrition therapy orders, ensuring proper execution while observing and evaluating patient adherence, acceptance, and tolerance of prescribed nutrition therapy. Regular reassessments help refine treatment plans to meet patients’ evolving needs. Beyond direct patient care, the Dietitian also manages the planning and administration of the nutrition office, ensuring efficient operations and adherence to best practices.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Dietetics, Nutrition, or a related field. A Master's degree is preferred.
Passed the registration exam as administered by the Commission on Dietetic Registration (or plan to do so within 6 months of hire).
Must hold a current, valid, and active license and/or certification to practice as a Registered Dietitian (RD) in Texas.
Must be current on Continuing Professional Education requirements that maintain RD license.
Registration with the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics.
Minimum of 1 year of NICU experience is preferred.
