Registered Nurse - Care Support

Work Shift
The RN Clinical Nurse is a proactive member of an interdisciplinary team of licensed and unlicensed caregivers who ensure that patients, families, and significant others receive individualized, high-quality, safe patient care. The clinical environment is administered by Nurse Managers and other leaders and is supported through a shared governance model.

RN competencies are derived from these models and supported by core values. It is expected that all RN Clinical Nurses are licensed, knowledgeable, and uphold the practice of nursing as outlined by the Georgia Professional Nursing Practice Act, implementing the scope of practice and code of ethics standards set by the American Nurses Association.

As a member of the patient services team, it is expected that the individual upholds the voice of the patient, system policies, and procedures while supporting service excellence goals.

Responsibilities

Performs the nursing process (assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation) in clinical care using evidence-based practice and analytical/critical thinking to ensure care is individualized.

Coordinates care through effective partnerships, recognizing that caring is central to achieve optimal patient care outcomes.

Provides relationship-based, patient-centered care consistent with population-specific characteristics (e.g., age, gender, disease) and adapts service delivery to reflect an understanding of cultural diversity.

Conducts bedside shift reports, keeping patients and significant others updated and focusing on patients' goals in the plan of care.

Coordinating the delivery and documentation of safe, quality patient care that promotes the professional care delivery model.

Demonstrates teamwork and collaboration by practicing in a fiscally responsible manner and promotes recruitment and retention of all healthcare team members.

Participates and supports performance improvement, including all stakeholders, research, and research utilization to promote safe, quality patient care; initiates and/or leads such activities and promotes interdisciplinary processes.

Serves as a preceptor and mentor for other professional nurses (and staff or students for all disciplines) to ensure a current and future qualified workforce, modeling the professional practice of nursing and creating a healthy work environment.

Evidence Based Practice and Research

Promotes evidence-based practice, nursing research, and performance improvement in nursing.

Participates in value analysis as part of the decision-making process in evaluating patient care products.

Upholds all healthcare system and organizational policies, procedures, and clinical competencies, including legal, regulatory, and accreditation requirements; ensures compliance with goals such as TJC Patient Safety Goals and system safety absolutes.

Participates in data collection and poses relevant clinical questions for advanced evidence-based practice.

Resources and Support

Proactively plans for the care of patients across the care continuum during direct patient care.

Participates in the development of protocols and procedures with care managers and other team members to achieve best practice outcomes, supporting efficient and effective use of human and material resources.

Performs other duties as assigned.

Complies with all system policies, standards of work, and code of conduct.

Qualifications

Minimum 5 years of RN direct patient care experience.

Preferred education: Associates Nursing, Diploma in Nursing, or Bachelor’s in Nursing.

Certifications

RN – Reg Nurse (Single State) or RN‑COMPACT – RN – Multi‑state Compact.

BLS – Basic Life Support or ARC‑BLS – American Red Cross Basic Life Support or BLS‑I – Basic Life Support – Instructor.

NRP – Neonatal Resuscitation Program or ARC‑NALS – American Red Cross Neonatal Advanced Life Support or NRP‑I – NRP – Instructor or NRP‑P – NRP‑Provisional (within 180 days).
