Role Overview
We are looking for a collaborative and driven Emergency Veterinary Assistant to join our clinical team. The position is crucial for patient care in a fast‑paced emergency setting.
Schedule
Monday, Tuesday, Thursday 8:00 am–5:00 pm; every other Saturday and Sunday 8:00 am–8:00 pm.
Responsibilities
Record and deliver organized rounds, discuss cases, and gather additional information as necessary.
Evaluate incoming patients and prioritize based on assessment.
Partner with the patient care team regarding treatment plans, client communication, and nursing care concerns.
Provide client education, including home‑care instructions, medication information, and general wellness updates for hospitalized patients.
Assist the DVM with patient assessment, treatment, and procedures.
Provide monitoring and nursing care to hospitalized patients.
Induce and monitor general anesthesia and sedation procedures.
Perform in‑house laboratory testing and prepare samples for outside laboratory testing.
Qualifications
Prior veterinary experience required; previous emergency experience desired.
Proficiency in calculations (drugs, constant‑rate infusions, unit conversions, etc.).
Flexibility with work hours and ability to work additional hours when necessary.
Ability to work efficiently in a fast‑paced environment.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
