
Packaging Line Shift Supervisor- A Shift

Job Description Summary
As the Line Shift Supervisor, this role will manage a small group of associates in an engaged manner and own performance for the output of a manufacturing line for the assigned shift. Guide team activities of the line by mentoring associates on a continuous improvement (BD Excellence) path in their daily manufacturing tasks and efforts. Ensure that standards for safety, quality, production, cost, 5S, CILT, defect tracking, Centerlining, Autonomous Maintenance (AM) and overall policy compliance are followed, through timely recognition and/or performance management. This role requires strong leadership skills, attention to detail, and effective communication. Regular, punctual attendance is a key job function, as well as the ability to read, write and speak in English. Must be willing and able to uphold BD Values.
Responsibilities
Promptly address any safety issues or incidents.
Responsible for staffing and training plans within line for assigned shift.
Daily touchpoints with line associates to support the Equipment Owner (EO) program. This includes but is not limited to Safety, Quality, AM defect tagging, 5S, CILTs, Centerlining, TPM, breakdowns, and top losses.
Provide regular, timely, and specific feedback to associates.
Ensure an open flow of communication exists between production associates and management. Represent concerns of production associates to management, as well as management concerns to production associates.
Support timely resolution of issues on the line, demonstrating servant leadership and adhering to BD Values.
Proactively anticipate and address problems before they impact production.
Prepare and run Tier 1 production meeting and ensure alignment with the Line Centric Organization (LCO) team.
Ensure fair and consistent application of company and departmental policies and practices. Works with associates to resolve employee relations issues and concerns; involves HR when needed.
Ensure the daily Pit Stops are executed as expected and daily targets, goals and issues are updated on the Primary Visual Display (PVD).
Ensures that all line resources are properly focused to support any quality or line issues as they occur.
Required to spend 100% of their time out on the production floor except for when required to attend necessary meetings or hold performance related conversations with associates.
Ensure all root cause analysis are conducted timely and appropriate corrective actions are implemented.
Communicate results and elevate issues to the Line Leader.
Responsible for accurate Kanban management and work order set up and material reconciliation.
Ensure accuracy of quality checks and work order documentation.
Perform other duties as required to support the needs of the business.
Able to move pallets/bins about 400 to 600 lbs using manual or electric pallet jack.
