Corewell Health operates over 300 outpatient clinics across Michigan, bringing a multitude of care options to the communities that we serve. Scope of Work
Under the direction of management and physician leadership, the Medical Assistant III performs and oversees functions related to clinical activities, including maintaining patient flow, assisting and promoting primary and preventative health care, performing technical procedures and lab protocols, and supporting physicians, clinic staff, and management in office efficiencies.
Responsibilities
Acts as an assistant to the physician/provider by providing primary healthcare and patient care management.
Collaborates with clerical staff to optimize operations and patient flow.
Interacts with outside healthcare facilities and agencies involving patient care and insurance.
Maintains updated competencies, demonstrating ability to speak to leadership and accreditation bodies about process and workflow.
Performs front office duties to provide coverage as needed.
Provides coverage in other departments or locations as needed.
Demonstrates excellent customer service skills and supports the model of patient and family centered care.
Performs additional responsibilities that constitute at least 20% of dedicated time: Primary Care gaps in care identification, outreach, and chart preparation; residency clinic role; high level disinfection; designated new hire preceptor; role in practice participating in or leading special programs/grants (e.g., CPC Plus, SIM, Vaccine for Child Program, process improvement, service excellence ambassador); care management (PDCMs); qualified language interpreter; super user for EPIC or specific competency; advanced provider support—assisting with complex procedures and/or infusion/chemo scheduling; multi‑site/flexible float pool assignment.
Qualifications
High School Diploma or equivalent (required).
Completion of a competency‑based accredited MA program, including a clinical rotation, or equivalent experience (required).
1 year (12 months) MA experience; or completed CH MA internship and 6 months MA experience; or completed CH MA apprenticeship program (required).
2 years of MA experience (preferred).
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within 30 days of hire (required).
Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) within 90 days of hire (required).
Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) within 90 days of hire (required).
American Registry Medical Assistant (ARMA) within 90 days of hire (required).
Certified Medical Assistant (NCMA) within 90 days of hire (required).
Certified Medical Assistant (CCMA) within 90 days of hire (required).
Certified Medical Assistant (NRCMA) within 90 days of hire (required).
License Practical Nursing (LPN) in State of Michigan upon hire (required).
