is seeking a Per Diem Licensed Vocational Nurse I/II in Moreno Valley.
Under the supervision and direction of a registered nurse, nurse practitioner, physician assistant, or physician, the incumbent will be responsible for performing nursing duties within the scope of the Nurse Practice Act for vocational nursing in the care of patients in the Department of Mental Health or Public Health Ambulatory Family Health Center; and perform other related duties as required.
Responsibilities
Provide nursing care to patients within the scope of the Nurse Practice Act for vocational nursing; prepare patients for physicians, physician assistants and nurse practitioners, and care for patients during treatment.
Administer medications using subcutaneous, intramuscularly, intradermal, subdermal, and/or oral methods.
Take temperature, pulse, respiration and blood pressure of patients as necessary; apply and change dressings and care wounds; collect specimens for laboratory analysis.
Assist physicians, registered nurses, and mid-level providers in performing examinations, tests, respiratory care and other treatments including minor surgical procedures, PAP smears and colposcopies.
Perform venipuncture and administer medications including biological immunizations for pediatrics and adults; conduct Tuberculin skin tests, Coccidioidomycosis skin tests, and Histoplasma skin tests as part of the tuberculosis control program.
Document all care and treatments per the Nurse Practice Act; chart treatments and medications; maintain medical records; collect patient data to ensure appropriate scheduling and continuity of care.
Counsel, advise and educate patients regarding proper health care methods; schedule clinic appointments; refer patients for specialty care to outside agencies.
Assist in the administration of special treatments, examinations, and intravenous therapy; maintain medical records according to established practice.
Collect data, prepare and implement patient care plans; participate in patient education and rehabilitation programs.
Observe patients’ condition and behavior; report significant changes to the supervisor.
May act under supervision as a nursing leader over health services assistants, certified medical assistants, office assistants and other LVNs as assigned.
Qualifications – Licensed Vocational Nurse I
Experience:
None required.
Knowledge of:
Current principles, techniques and procedures used within the scope of the Nurse Practice Act for vocational nursing; medical terminology, hospital and/or health care procedures and equipment; medication administration as outlined in policies and procedures.
Ability to:
Skillfully perform vocational nursing duties and responsibilities; learn and follow policies and procedures; establish and maintain effective working relationships; complete and maintain reports and clinical records.
Qualifications – Licensed Vocational Nurse II
Experience:
At least one year of successful experience as an LVN, preferably in a public health clinic environment.
Knowledge of:
Current principles, techniques and procedures used in vocational nursing within the scope of the Nurse Practice Act; medical terminology, acute care procedures and equipment; medication administration and related policies.
Ability to:
Skillfully perform the full range of vocational nursing duties; learn and follow policies; establish and maintain effective relationships; complete and maintain reports and patient records; make observations and report accurately.
Other Requirements
The licensed vocational nurse must possess a valid California Vocational Nurse's License issued by the California Board of Vocational Nurse and Psychiatric Technician Examiners.
Must also have a valid Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association for professional healthcare providers.
