The Licensed Vocational Nurse is responsible for providing professional nursing care for patients under supervision of the physician or APP. Assists physicians and staff in coordinating patient care. Functions as primary liaison between patients; staff; and physicians.

Minimum Education
Completion of Vocational Nursing Program or Associate's Degree in Nursing
Minimum Work Experience
One-year License Vocational Nurse experience
Required Licenses/Certifications
Current state vocational nurse license
Current CPR certificate
Required Skills; Knowledge; and Abilities
Knowledge of medical terminology; anatomy; physiology; and pathophysiology; familiarity with health care systems; regulations; policies; and functions; understanding of documentation standards
Knowledge of equipment; supplies; and materials needed for medical treatment; understanding of basic laboratory procedures including preparation and screening
Knowledge of infectious disease management and control and safety standards
Knowledge of policies and procedures related to infection control; environmental safety; and patient confidentiality
Knowledge of medical chart reporting/records
Knowledge of management and organizational theory to supervise the business practices including principles of employee development to train; delegate; and mentor staff; knowledge of medications and other pharmacological agents used in a clinic setting
Knowledge in diseases and disease processes
Skill in appropriate assessment and assistance techniques
Skill in appropriate use of universal precautions; safe workplace; and confidentiality methods
Skill in health information management by appropriately charting patient data
Ability to work effectively as a team member with physicians and other staff

CMA

The Certified Medical Assistant is responsible for providing information to patients so they may fully utilize and benefit from Hendrick Health services. May be assigned to specific medical specialty department (e.g.; orthopedics).
Job Requirements
Minimum Education
High school diploma or general equivalency diploma (GED); medical assistant diploma from an accredited vocational institution; or a community college course in medical assisting. If not yet a CMA you will receive all hours required for the CMA exam. Hendrick Clinic will cover the fee for the first exam.
Minimum Work Experience
Minimum one year of recent experience working in a medical facility as a medical assistant and/or documented evidence of externship completed in a medical office. Electrocardiogram (EKG); vital signs; venipuncture; capillary; and injection current experience.
Required Licenses/Certifications
Certified Medical Assistant within 26 months of hire
Must possess a current CPR certification
