Position Title: Lab Assistant I
Work Location: 550 17th Ave, Ste 201, Seattle, WA
Assignment Duration: 3+ months
Work Schedule: 7:00 AM - 3:30 PM, Monday to Friday
Position Summary
The Lab Assistant I will work in a high-volume, production-based environment, performing essential functions that support clinical laboratory operations and contribute to accurate diagnostic outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
Receive and sort clinical laboratory specimens
Prepare specimens for testing and analysis
Perform data entry and/or scanning of specimen and patient information
Ensure proper functioning of lab equipment and perform minor maintenance
Troubleshoot specimen-related issues
Replenish laboratory supplies as needed
Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment
Complete record logs and administrative tasks as required
Adhere to all Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for safety and quality
Handle pathology support tasks including:
Filing slides
Filing blocks
Distributing pathology slides
Qualifications & Experience
High school diploma or equivalent required
Prior experience in a medical, laboratory, or production environment preferred
Comfortable handling biological specimens
Ability to accurately identify and process specimens
Basic computer skills and data entry proficiency
Strong attention to detail with multitasking ability
Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-volume environment
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Ability to stand and/or sit for extended periods
Must pass a standardized color blindness test
Flexibility to work overtime as needed
Knowledge of medical terminology and quality control is a plus
Strong customer service skills
Working Conditions & Physical Demands
Standing for the majority of the shift
High-volume, production-based pathology support environment
Color vision screening required
Additional Information
Full-time role (8 hours/day, 40 hours/week)
Hepatitis B vaccination offered upon permanent conversion (optional based on titer/declination)
Requires strong organizational skills and accuracy in handling slides and blocks
