Come and join our team! The Vermont Department of Health's St. Alban's District Office has an opening for a dynamic Nutrition Assistant to complement our professional team. This position is an opportunity to work with clients and community partners in direct support of the Women Infants and Children (WIC) program. This is a nutrition education and clerical position that advances our mission: To protect and promote the best health for all Vermonters.

Responsibilities

Work one on one with WIC participants by providing certification services

Use problem‑solving skills to resolve nutrition‑related questions from participants and community partners

Provide clerical duties that support the enrollment and retention of WIC participants

Participate in office initiatives such as lead screening and emergency preparedness

Position Details
Public Health Nutrition Assistant – Temporary (Job Requisition # 54899) – temporary position with variable hours; not guaranteed 40 hours per week.

Environmental Factors
Duties primarily performed in District Office settings or in outlying service sites. Travel to outlying sites will require a driver’s license. Private means of transportation may be required. Occasional travel to statewide trainings required. Potential travel in difficult weather conditions. There is considerable interaction with staff, clients, community partners, providers and the general public.

Minimum Qualifications

Associate’s degree in a health related field OR two (2) years of experience in a health related environment.

Preferred Qualifications

Degree in nutrition or health, education or a human services field.

Experience in a health or nutrition related community setting.
