Position Summary
The Biothreats Emergence, Analysis, and Communications Network (BEACON) is a program at the Center for Emerging Infectious Diseases (CEID) at Boston University that integrates advanced artificial intelligence with global expertise to rapidly and transparently identify and report emerging infectious disease events in humans and animals. We seek a Program Associate to support BEACON by managing data, assisting with grants, providing administrative and communications support, and offering executive calendar assistance.

Responsibilities

Cleaning and Management (40%) – Review and clean daily BEACON disease report data for accuracy, maintain M&E indicators, generate reports, and flag issues for technical staff.

Grants and Proposal Support (20%) – Prepare grant applications and progress reports, assemble background information, create proposal templates, and help with background research for new initiatives.

BEACON Administrative Support (20%) – Day‑to‑day admin tasks including meeting scheduling, note‑taking, follow‑up tracking, contracting, procurement, and invoice processing.

Communications Backup (10%) – Draft or format content for websites, newsletters, slide decks, briefing materials; maintain web content; create visual representations of data.

Calendar and Executive Support (10%) – Provide scheduling and logistical support for BEACON Editor‑in‑Chief, coordinate virtual and in‑person events, and manage travel arrangements.

Required Skills

Bachelor’s degree; MPH preferred.

1–3 years of operations or research program work.

Fluency with Google Drive, Docs, Sheets, Microsoft Office, and Zoom.

Preferred Skills

Experience in emerging infectious diseases and public health technology.

Administrative program management in a university setting.

Strong process and project management skills.

Excellent organizational, writing, and communication skills.

Ability to identify and resolve problems with relevant team members.

Independent work toward collective goals in a fast‑paced environment.

Commitment to curiosity and learning; flexibility and positive mindset.
