
Engineering Intern - Manufacturing

Education and/or Experience
Must be enrolled in a four‑year engineering program. Must be 1‑3 years away from graduation.
Experience with software such as Excel, programming languages, AutoCAD, Inventor is preferred. Hands‑on experience with engines and machining is preferred, but not required.
Willingness to work in a plant/manufacturing environment.
Preferred experience or exposure to manufacturing processes, including:
Knowledge of statistical methods as applied to experimental design and process development.
Demonstrated leadership in field of study, extracurricular activities, or service organizations.
Outstanding interpersonal and relationship‑management skills with the ability to effectively collaborate with varying levels of the organization and external contacts related to work assignments.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to distill complex subjects to a wider audience.
Emerging partnership and collaboration skills and ability to learn from and share knowledge with co‑workers in a fast‑paced environment.
Ability to deal with ambiguity, take initiative/self‑directed.
Evidence of strong character with integrity, honesty, accountability, and trust.
Consistently demonstrates innovative thinking.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Assist in development of process prints, future cell layouts and moves – CAD layouts.
Assist in process improvements and cost‑reduction projects.
Assist engineers with design and implementation of fixtures, tooling, accessories, etc.
Participate and/or lead problem‑solving activities.
Assist engineers with creating manufacturing instructions, standard work, and training documents.
Participate in Lean manufacturing teams.
Conduct time studies and help with routings.
Data entry and maintenance of engineering items within SAP operating system.
Confer with engineers, production personnel, maintenance, or others to resolve machine problems or malfunctions.
Must be able to work effectively with operators and other manufacturing support staff to solve problems and improve productivity.
Create flow charts, spreadsheets, and presentations in support of staff projects.
Lean process analysis and value‑stream mapping.
Other duties as assigned.
