Job Summary
Contributes to the multidisciplinary team assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of nursing care under the direct supervision of a Registered Nurse.
Qualifications
Graduation from an accredited school of practical nursing.
Current Vermont license as a Licensed Practical Nurse.
At least one year of clinical nursing experience is preferred.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Administers medications correctly within the parameters of the Brattleboro Retreat policies and procedures.
Demonstrates knowledge of all medication used on the unit as evidenced by med/ed documentation.
Observes for side effects of medications and documents.
In collaboration with RN, contributes to reinforcing education with patients on benefits/risks of medication.
Provides nursing care to meet patients’ needs under the supervision of RN.
Assists in management of the milieu in accordance with policy and procedure to ensure safety and therapeutic environment.
Exhibits initiative and independence in identifying and intervening as problems arise.
Performs constant observations, intermittent observations, safety checks or other forms of patient safety and environmental checks as assigned.
Responsible for sharing accurate, precise and relevant information (in SBAR formate) with other members of the multidisciplinary team through verbal reports and documentation.
Accountable for unit and patient safety in accordance with policy and procedures to ensure patient safety.
Demonstrates Ability To Intervene In Crisis Situations
Monitor the milieu, reports potential crisis situations to RN and intervenes in a calm, supportive manner.
Utilizes the integrated experience to prevent crisis or behavioral emergencies.
Demonstrates ability to physically intervene in crisis utilizing non-violent interventions when performing approved holding skills.
May lead a show of support, directing others in their roles.
Provides information to the RN to ensure complete and timely documentation regarding the crisis.
Night shift: 7pm-7:30am.
36 hours/week.
