Position Overview
Brattleboro Retreat is seeking an experienced
Behavioral Health RN
for a
float position
supporting both
adolescent and adult inpatient units .
This role involves working within a multidisciplinary team to provide high-quality psychiatric care in a structured, therapeutic environment focused on
co-occurring disorders , including substance use and mental health conditions such as depression, anxiety, and bipolar disorder.
Key Responsibilities
Deliver comprehensive psychiatric nursing care using the nursing process
Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams on patient treatment plans
Supervise Mental Health Workers (MHWs)
Support patients through detox, stabilization, and recovery
Provide care across multiple units (adolescent & adult populations)
Take charge nurse responsibilities as assigned
Requirements
Minimum 5 years RN experience
Recent
inpatient psychiatric experience
(within last 3 months)
Experience with
multiple age groups (adolescent & adult)
Willingness to
float across all units
and take charge shifts
Active
Vermont RN License or Compact License
Active
BLS (AHA) Certification
Additional Notes
First-time travelers will be considered
CPI training offered onsite (confirm at submission)
Time-Off & Scheduling Notes
No RTO allowed during first 2 weeks (orientation)
Max 7 days RTO during contract
Blackout Dates (No Time Off Allowed):
May 22–26
June 22 – July 7
August 10–14
August 31 – September 4
September 5–8
