Description

The Surgical ICU serves as a Level 1 Trauma Center, caring for approximately 3,000 patients a year across trauma, neuro, orthopedic, spine, and general surgery. It also functions as the comprehensive stroke ICU for Hillcrest. The ICU team is multidisciplinary and driven by evidence‑based practice.
Under general supervision, the SICU nurse identifies and implements nursing interventions, evaluates results, and serves as a resource to other team members as assigned. The role promotes compliance with policies, supports collaborative relationships, and operates in a fast‑paced environment.
Minimum Qualifications
Graduate from an accredited nursing school.
Registered Nurse (RN) license issued by the State of California.
BLS/CPR and ACLS certifications at hire date with commitment to obtain ART within six months.
Current PALS certification or obtain within six months.
Two years of recent acute care adult surgical or trauma ICU RN experience; one year may be considered if applicant pool is insufficient.
Ability to function in a high‑paced environment with excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
BSN or MSN.
CCRN certification.
Two or more years of recent surgical/trauma ICU experience in a Level‑1 trauma hospital.
Special Conditions
Must be able to work various hours, days, shifts, on‑call and at multiple locations based on the medical center’s business needs.
Employment subject to criminal background check and pre‑employment physical.
Selected candidate may be hired at the CNIII level pending review and approval by the Nurse Executive Council.
Pay Transparency
Annual full pay range: $138,330 - $193,892 (prorated if appointment percentage less than 100%).
Hourly equivalent: $66.25 - $92.86.

Final candidates must disclose any final administrative or judicial decisions within the last seven years confirming misconduct, or any filed appeal of such findings. Documentation will be required upon acceptance.
