Job Overview
A full‑time Melanoma and Uro‑Oncology Clinical Nurse Specialist role based at the Northern Centre for Cancer Care in Carlisle. The role requires extensive post‑registration experience, including senior level within the required specialist area. The successful candidate will support patients through their individualised pathway, provide holistic care, and lead developments in practice.
Main Responsibilities
Ensure that current and newly created pathways are best suited to treating and supporting melanoma and uro‑oncology patients.
Provide support through formal clinic appointments and informal reviews.
Deliver information and education to patients, explaining complex diagnoses and treatment regimes.
Advocate for patients and coordinate their care.
Lead planning, delivery and evaluation of care pathways for the designated patient group.
Support development of nursing practice and contribute to nursing knowledge.
Qualifications and Education
Registered Nurse (appropriate to branch).
Current NMC registration.
Degree level / Master’s level study, or a combination of equivalent specialist study/experience.
Master’s Degree (desirable).
Management experience or qualification (desirable).
Knowledge & Experience
Extensive post‑registration experience, including senior level within the required specialist area.
Experience administering systemic anti‑cancer treatments.
Knowledge of current treatment regimes for melanoma and uro‑oncology.
Audit, research experience, and continuous professional development.
Understanding of NHS policy and safeguarding for adult/child.
Skills & Abilities
Good IT and report‑writing skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
Effective organisational, time‑management and communication skills.
Current driving licence if relevant.
Ability to move and handle patients and objects using appropriate aids.
