Overview
Comprehensive Cancer Centers of Nevada is seeking a Registered Nurse in the Las Vegas, Nevada area.
Responsibilities
Plan, implement, coordinate, evaluate, and promote the continuity of care consistent with established standards and practices.
Assess health status by interviewing patients regarding their status and medical history.
Collect and record nursing assessments and interventions.
Review and report the results of the health status assessment and physical examination, pertinent laboratory data, radiographic data, and psychosocial assessment of assigned patients to the provider.
Assess patient/family needs and provide teaching and other instruction.
Provide psychosocial support to patients and families.
Maintain patient confidentiality.
Prepare and administer therapies under the direction and supervision of a physician.
Administer medications/blood products using the correct medication/blood product, dosage/amount, route, time, and technique.
Ensure pre-authorization and appropriate consent forms are obtained before administration of therapies where applicable.
Facilitate dose modification by assessing patients, reviewing labs, consulting protocol or treatment plan, calculating dose, and consulting physician regarding dosage modifications, problems, and symptom management.
Perform venipuncture, access implanted ports, and maintain central lines/catheter devices.
Maintain accurate documentation of assigned patient care and treatments provided.
Apply knowledge of reimbursement procedures and charge capture.
Maintain a safe and efficient work environment, restock supplies, and follow disinfection and OSHA guidelines for handling cytotoxic agents and biohazardous waste.
Facilitate clinical operations and patient care, including managing medication refill requests, assisting physicians with exams, maintaining patient flow, coordinating consultations and tests, triaging calls, and facilitating communication among the interdisciplinary team.
Assist patients in locating available community resources.
Collaborate with clinical research and provide nursing coverage for satellite offices as needed.
Participate in professional development to maintain current knowledge of oncology nursing.
Qualifications
High School Diploma
Graduate from an accredited program for professional nursing education.
RN state license and current registration with the Nevada State Board of Nursing.
Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
Preferred 1 year in Oncology
BSN Preferred
Must maintain continuing education requirements.
Business Experience: 0-3 years nursing experience, preferably at least one year in oncology.
